You are closing a door while asking the floor to produce. That is the whole letter. My brother is Igbo. He runs a store in Italy. His wife is Grace. They have five children. They crossed water, took papers, kept them, and built. The people around him want the same thing — work that can become status — and they are watching the skilled-work visa tighten in your name.
I am not in your building. I do not speak for a party or a PAC. I am writing because the industrial argument and the family argument have been split on purpose, and both get stupid when they travel alone.
Forty trillion is paper until ore, chips, steel, fuel, and food move on a schedule into shops that still weld. Agreements written by logistics can make this hemisphere feed those shops without turning every neighbor into a quarry. Centerpiece works only if the other end of the contract keeps a cut, a plant, and a name. That is policy. It is not a sermon.
The people I am pointing at are not a weather system. They already have documents. They already run a till. Igbo trade after Biafra rebuilt on apprenticeship — years under a master, then a stake. Mixed faith. Thirty million is a census, not a convoy. One shop in Italy is a cylinder. If you want hands for a new industrial river, you start with names who kept paper when the boat landed, not with a map you do not live on.
H-1B is a job stamp. Citizenship is a later stamp. Do not sell them as one. You have put a heavy price on new entries from outside the country and you are moving to end the short grace after a job dies. Call it modernization. The effect is the same: the specialty box gets smaller while the floor still needs welders, techs, and people who already know how to keep a book.
If the national interest is production, say which occupations, which wages, which plants. If the national interest is fewer filings, say that too. What cannot be ignored is the gap between “make it here” and a door that only opens for a lottery and a check most small shops cannot write.
