Insight and Action

**Here’s a 5-minute public lesson in the voice of Ron White:**

Alright… let me tell you something real simple.

Most of us walk around with a little automatic switch in our head. You get the urge — light the joint, light the cigarette, grab the bottle, say the stupid thing — and before you even know it, you’ve already done it. Boom. Habit wins again.

But every once in a while… you catch it.

You hear the postman open that door. You’re already reaching for the lighter. And something inside you just says, “Hold up.”

You pause.

And in that little space — that two-second gap between the urge and the action — something better can happen. Instead of feeding the same old craving, you do something else. You take a picture. You talk to somebody. You create a moment that actually means something.

That’s the whole teaching, folks. That little pause is where the power lives.

Now, this ain’t new. Every religion on the planet has been trying to tell us the same damn thing for thousands of years.

The Christians say, “Be still and know.”

The Buddhists say, pay attention to the craving without chasing it.

The Muslims say the strong man is the one who can control himself.

The Jews say the strongest person is the one who conquers his own inclination.

The Hindus talk about pulling your senses back like a turtle pulls its legs in.

And the Taoists just flat-out say: the man who conquers himself is the mighty one.

Same message, different wrappers.

You don’t have to be a saint. You don’t have to quit everything overnight. You just have to catch yourself once in a while and choose the thing that actually makes life better instead of the thing that only makes the craving go away for twenty minutes.

That’s it.

Pause. Choose the better thing. Repeat when you can.

And if you do that enough times… you start becoming the kind of person who doesn’t have to fight the same fight every single day.

Now go try it.

Here is the thought that was the origin of the story.

Here, an example of empathy and understanding. *Moments earlier...I hear the postman's door slide open, I do not light my joint, like I was intending to nor my cigarette, instead I took pics of me to share with you and you did very well, (exceptionally) on the mood recognition. The moral of the story is, when I pause from addictive action I create something more attractive.* Now for you I would enjoy a narrative from you and see if you can find that "nugget" in scripture somewhere, use all religions
