Hey,
This is a proposal I came up with on April 30th.
**Basic Idea:** A 20-acre regenerative homestead pilot located directly across Panorama Drive from Bakersfield College. The county would lot the land. It would have one circular canal with slow water taxis, about 35–40 half-acre plots for families who actually want to homestead — rabbits, quail, ducks, dwarf goats, gardens, plus small hemp and bamboo fields for soil building. Simple bamboo shade covers over the canal and a small fresh meat market. Total estimated cost around $1.4 to $1.9 million.
Just wanted to share the thought. If this small version creates any real interest, I have a much larger 20-year vision that could eventually fill the entire Bakersfield Basin — with two groups building toward each other: one group starting from the center and spiraling outward, and Native American tribes starting from the mountain ring and spiraling inward.
Let me know if you’d like to see the full grand design.
